The Stories
We Carry

Some places stay with us. Some stories change us.

Some stories begin in places. Others begin in questions we cannot quite answer. My writing explores the intersections of memory, faith, history, and the ordinary experiences that shape who we become.

Whether reflecting on the places that save us, the quiet changes unfolding around us, or the ancient stories that still speak to our lives, I write with a simple conviction: the stories we carry have something to teach us.

Behind the Stories

A smiling man in a pink shirt sitting outdoors on rocks with a mountain landscape and autumn trees in the background.

I'm Rick Foster.

I'm a husband, father, veteran, writer, historian, educator, and pastor. But I've learned that the titles we carry tell only a small part of our stories.

Much of my life has been spent exploring the questions that connect us. Why do certain places stay with us? How do ordinary experiences shape who we become? And how do we find meaning in moments that might otherwise go unnoticed?

My writing grows out of those questions, finding lessons in history, faith, memory, and the beautifully ordinary moments of life.
